Immunity Nutrition: How to stay healthy when the weather is cold and wet.

When it’s chilly and rainy, there’s things to do to make sure we stay healthy and happy.
Traditional foods are often a real smart idea. The good old fashion soups that contain fresh vegetables and garlic are great for our immunity and they taste great as well!

The root vegetables like beets, carrots, and turnips have beta carotene, C, and A.
Citrus, mangoes, kiwis as well as strawberries broccoli, cauliflower and bell peppers have plenty of natural vitamin C.
Vitamin D rich foods are important because we’re not getting sunshine. Shiitake mushrooms, salmon, eggs, and red meat, cod liver oil are some choices here.

Peppermint, elderberry, echinacea, chamomile, mint, ginger, slippery elm are a few you may enjoy.
Fresh honey has many healing benefits and of course tastes great with your tea.
Oatmeal is high in zinc which is important for a good immune function. It’s best to soak your oatmeal overnight with a bit of apple cider apple cider vinegar, lemon or whey in it before cooking it.
Winter fruits such as apples and dates can embellish your oatmeal.
Keep moving! Grab your umbrella and take a nice walk. If you’re stuck indoors, squats, lunges, plank/pushups, any motion repeated gets your metabolism going and is very helpful in keeping us healthy.

Getting plenty of sleep is another sure way to keep your immunity strong. Cozy up – sweet dreams! (I’ll be dreaming of the sunshine, you can bet…)
Of course, Chiropractic adjustments are a proven health and immune boosting element of a healthy lifestyle.
